Customer Review: This text will lay a good foundation for anyone now learning latex. You will be able to produce full featured documents after reading this text. However, the text does tell you that you have to get the other latex books to become a true master of the software. It does a brief treatment of graphics,... more info
Customer Review: I have been using WordPerfect for many years to write papers full of complicated equations. However, I was required by a publisher to start writing in Latex, which I had never used. Grätzer's book got me up to speed within a few days. I'm now halfway proficient in Latex, but his book remains at... more info
Customer Review: I purchased the LaTeX Graphics Companion, The (2nd Edition) while learning LaTeX to use to prepare materials for use while teaching high school geometry. This is an excellent resource providing both descriptions of the macros and examples for a number of LaTeX graphic packages. It's coverage of the... more info
Customer Review: This book is getting on toward venerable, and it was never very special. It describes some LaTeX stuff that I've used once or twice. Mostly, though, I work from online resources these days. I don't really recommend this book unless you are the kind of person who strongly prefers a book to Google and... more info
Learning LaTeX from SIAM: Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Price: $26.95
Customer Review: Learning LaTex is a short, readable book for those just beginning their relationship with this document preparation system. There are a number of graduate students and instructors in my mathematics department who are just now trying to learn to use LaTex, and I donated this book to the department's... more info
Customer Review: First of all... you have almost everything available in the web... but again it is nice addition on the library for quick results... sometimes easier than going around the web... If you know how to make a google search, probably you do not need most part of those books... Again though, I... more info
Customer Review: I just wanted to point out that this book is obsolete. The new fourth edition title has changed to "More Math into LATEX". Buy that instead...
Customer Review: This is basically just a subset of Gratzer's larger book. Not to say this book isn't good, but it's worth spending a few extra dollars to get the complete book.
Customer Review: Need to do charts or graphics using latex? Then this is the book for you. It's the most advanced and complete book on Latex graphics that I've seen. If you would like to implement a reporting system that can draw charts using latex then this book is a must. Though I've not used latex in a while, I... more info
Customer Review: I bought this book based on the other reviews but I have to say I found it somewhat dense reading and hard to get through. I'm sure it's packed with good information, but I think the layout is daunting and not "user friendly." I much prefer the formatting, layout and style of "Math Into LaTeX".
Customer Review: I'd put this on my amazon wishlist since I saw it listed used for ~$2. Unfortunately, somebody spent the money to buy it for me new. As mentioned by another reviewer, this book is dated, and much of it stale and not worth reading. This is especially true if your interest is mathematics presentation... more info
Customer Review: For those who want to become productive with LaTex without wasting lots time reading irrelevant information, this book gets you to do just that. I have used quite a few Tex references over the years, Hahn's book is the one that I go back to time after time.
Customer Review: ... users with some experience with this package will find it next to impossible to use as a reference. Bits and pieces on a topic are often scattered throughout the book. This works if you read it from beginning to end as it builds up in sophistication. On the other hand, it makes it difficult to... more info
Customer Review: I should have known better, but this book is fairly outdated, being written more that 10 years ago.
You should stick to more popular books on TeX/LaTeX such as the 'Companion' series, Guide to Latex, et alli.
